What a SWEET, sweet day this was. First, Sara and Ben had their engagement session a few months previous to their wedding day and I got to be apart of Ben’s secret “re-proposal” with the ring they had long waited for. When they showed up to our chosen location, Sara explained how her engagement ring was not yet ready (little did she know that Ben was holding it in his pocket as she spoke!). A few days later, they had to reconsider their wedding plans due to Covid and landed on having their celebration at Ben’s family farm (also the very place he grew up!). As much as the year of 2020 “shut down” plans and places, it opened up other opportunities that might have been overlooked, had nothing shifted.
I am all about bridal parties, but this day was another great example of how simple and unique a wedding day can be. I loved how Sara got ready with just her mom, and Ben, his dad and a few others. They lined their ceremony aisle with haystacks as seating and created beautiful florals to garnish. They both wore boots, and their outfits had a vintage flare. Ben’s brother performed their ceremony over a video call and others tuned in from out of state/country, creating a safe, yet intimate environment (thank God for technology in these strange days, right?!). Nothing can’t be done with a little creativity and imagination. It’s a tradition in the Mexican culture to invite a mariachi band, and I have to say, this was my second encounter and quickly becoming a favorite to experience! The sunlight gave such a romantic feel to their day and we even got some pictures with the cows. Their reception was a sit down dinner with homemade meals and a whole lot of laughter.
