Callanwolde Fine Arts Center Wedding | Natalie + Cash
Atlanta, GA
You may have seen these two in an earlier blog (and if you haven’t, go check out their engagement session stat!) but I’ll say it again… I have all the heart eyes for these two. Not everyone chooses to add an engagement session in addition to documenting their day, however, I’m the biggest fan for all of these important reasons.
1. Not everyone loves paparazzi. For the most part, we (including myself) get incredibly uncomfortable and highly aware with our expressions/ where to put our hands/ do we smile at the camera? What do I do, do you want me to look somewhere? Is this even working?! Engagement sessions are a perfect, low stakes opportunity to connect with your favorite person (aka. your significant other) and get all those awkward inner voices out of the way so that you can be fully you! And then there’s me, inserting my prompts and attempted jokes to get you feeling like you’re not even on candid camera, while we play in a field, on a mountain or in a coffeeshop, forgetting the world around us and laughing at how much fun we are all having (because it’s true. Fun is a top priority!).
2. They are great ways to “slow things down”. Wedding planning can be a beast in itself, and often, you’ll find little to no time to stop and smell the roses of this sweet engagement season that will only last a season. These sessions are so much more than getting your photos taken all cute and looking in love- they are the perfect time to re-kindle that romance and CELEBRATE your love! To look into each other’s eyes, take a walk down memory lane, laugh at each other’s silly tendencies and remember the journey you chose to choosing one another.
3. You and I become less of strangers, and more like friends. I try to meet with my clients in person or on Skype before we meet on the day of, but engagement sessions are my favorite way to get to know you and hear your story, so that I can capture just that. YOUR story. Every couple is different, which is what makes love so beautifully unique. I take a front row seat to your significant bond, and when we have that time together, I get to not only document your day, but you are (hopefully) way more comfy with me and my camera, plus, I get to become so much more invested into your lives, which is why my job matters. I’m not creating images just to show what I can “do”. I’m genuinely interested in knowing YOU, celebrating you and capturing just that. I create to share your connection and what true love looks like. So, this helps me accurately share your unique story for you to then share + remember for all the days of your newlywed lives. :)
With all that said, please enjoy the cute Collins couple.
