The Duck Pond Engagement | Kat + Matthew

Buckhead, GA

What a dreamy session (and dreamy couple, may I add)! Kat was the maid of honor for Sarah + Matt’s wedding (another amazing couple from 2019) and I was so thrilled to reconnect and plan out her and Matthew’s wedding journey. The day we had on the schedule for their engagement session had rain, rain, and more rain in the forecast- mostly never what you want! We originally had planned for a sunset, starting at their favorite Italian restaurant first, and making our way to the park for the golden hour that everyone loves. While this was a superb plan, sometimes things change for the better. The rain seemed like it would roll in a little later, so we decided to meet sooner and try to outrun the clouds. As I was driving to the Duck Pond, I kid you not, the darkest of clouds were looming above and rain drops were threatening to break free. We began in a hurry, pouring champagne (they were so kind to pour me a glass, to which I set on the ground and kicked over before my first sip) trying to play it cool with (what I thought would be) the only dry minutes we had left. This may be a lot of build up, but I’m just so in awe that we had 30 glorious minutes together before the rain began! It even made for some fun outtakes at the end. This honestly became one of my favorite sessions to date, because of the soft light, the wintery scene and the beauty of Kat and Matthew together- these two are pretty much straight out of a magazine. ;)

We ended at Pasta Da Pulcinella to get cozy while it rained and it truly felt like we had stepped into a romantic Lifetime movie. They drank wine, cuddled, reminisced of their memories together, and I was the third wheel capturing this scene straight out of a European film. I’m always honored when couples suggest sentimental spaces for their session. It’s vulnerable and meaningful to them, and not everyone gets a front row seat down memory lane. I walked away with a smile on my face after this one! I’m so in love with how this day turned out and 100% the biggest fan of Kat and Matt.
